York St John accommodation shortlisted for a design award

Published: 24 March 2014

The most recent addition to York St John’s student accommodation portfolio has been shortlisted for a prestigious regional property award.

York St John Central is in the running for one of this year’s RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Pro Yorkshire Awards. The 258-bed student halls, which opened last autumn, has been shortlisted in the Residential category.

The eight-storey development, off Hungate in the city centre, has had 100% occupancy since it was completed. It was designed by CSP Architects on behalf of S Harrison Developments Limited.

There are eight categories in total and then an extra award, Project of the Year, is awarded to the entry that scored the highest across all categories.

Colin Parkin, Director, Estate Management and Development at York St John University, said:
“This is fantastic news. It reflects the high quality design and specification we strive to deliver for our students across our campus.

“It is extremely important to us that our students have access to extremely high quality buildings like York St John Central.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Leeds in May.
